The Fiesta 13 1980’s Horror Movie OctoVember Challenge #3: Girl’s Nite Out

Girl’s Nte Out

The Fiesta 13 1980’s Horror Challenge #3 Girl’s Nite Out (1982) (Arrow)

After the big win, DeWItt University celebrates with a campus-wide scavenger hunt. And the killer has the clues.

This above-average, but misnamed college slasher was a pleasant surprise. I prefer slashers with human killers, not the more supernaturally and franchise-friendly killers like Mike Meyers or Jason. They’re like American Giallo’s, a mystery with lurid elements. While there was no nudity or elaborate gore in Girl’s Nite Out, they did capture the feel of college pretty well. Sure, all the college students (of varying real-life ages) were a blur of characters each with typical college drama, but that’s college, isn’t it?

Also, big-name Hal Holbrook played the surprisingly competent head of campus security and I guessed the killer the at the same time his character did.

Here’s a serial killer pro-tip: steal the college mascot’s costume and use it to kill. Everybody thinks you’re somebody else.
